After 10 days at Yanisaladup, we got restless and needed a new spot to explore. We anchored near ‘big dog’ island. The anchorage was awfully crowded, and the good anchor spot we found 3 years ago was taken by a monohull with the name Martini. Clearly they were also running charters as we counted 9 heads on the dinghy and heard different languages.

Boats were coming and going all the time. After anchoring we went to one of the 3 islands surrounding us, named Nugnudup.

Nugnudup

It is awfully touristy. All cleaned up, with a proper beach bar, a mola shop, and arrows with relaxing words on, and a few picture perfect spots (a swing with ‘this is living’ ….etc…etc.. ). For the selfie/ selfish generation. You get the idea.

We had some drinks and walked around the island, finished our drinks, drove around the other islands and then went back to Exodus.

Because it’s so crowded you don’t have any privacy and we had to reassure poor Capo that the dogs and people couldn’t get to him. We decided that we are just staying until Sunday.

Good tidings

On Friday, we went snorkelling. Mom and I had fun as we discovered a way through the big coral wall and scared all the fish by popping up next to them.

We got interrupted in our games when dad called us back to the boat. He had shot a ginormous dog snapper that was still hiding in a cave at 20 metres. We had to get back in case he needed help.

When we got back, we saw a boat coming in. And later that afternoon, I saw a kid jump off from the top of their hard covers, and I heard English. So then I swam over to say ‘hi’ and we chatted a bit. Her name is Annika. She is 10 years old and she loves writing books (scary romances to be exact) and wants to be an author when she grows up. Annika and I decided that the next day we would play all day.

The next day our play date was held up because it started raining. But luckily it stopped and dad took me over to ask if I can come and play. So they said yes and me and Annika played on her boat until 3:30 and then went to my boat. There we played and then went kayaking in her kayak. We kayaked around picking up sunken trash.

The next day we left for East Holandés because there we would meet Malcom from Samba (father of my twin friends Melody and Dylan). But luckily it sounded like Annika and her family would be going to East Holandes too, so we would soon meet again!

Hopeful Gitane and cruelly-crowded-in Capo
