As we were anchored in the same spot for quite a few weeks, we left our dinghy in the water. After cleaning Exodus’ waterline and rudder, the Exodus crew decided the dinghy was also up for a scrub. One quiet afternoon we took her to the small beach, equipped with a bucket, 2 hard hand brushes and scouring pads. Big was our horror when we lifted her out and flipped her over. She had grown a full beard in the interim!
Being children of our own time, we are not in favour of the prolific pubic hair growth of the sixties.
We asked president Trump for some sound advice. He agreed: ‘No more bush!’
We immediately grabbed the proverbial bull by the horns, or the overgrown dinghy by the pussy. Scrubbing like mad to get rid of the long strings of algae, rinsing frequently with fresh sea water. Soon the pristine sandy beach sported a big green spot.
We briefly considered a Brazilian but were that busy exfoliating and waxing it was already too late!
None the less, we are quite happy with the result… Let’s see how long it lasts…
Whilst cleaning the top part, a sudden movement caught our attention. Closer inspection showed a baby crayfish! Cutest thing ever! Gitane spent a good part of our work time building a house for the poor crayfish.
Worse places to be stuck
All in all, we could not complain about our little bay. With its two beaches close by, its abundant sea life, UN heritage site and national park on our doorstep, several kiddies boats, and friendly neighbors, … there are definitely worse places to be stuck. When checking out we even spotted a colibri sucking some nectar out of a cactus flower.
Exodus was sent on her way with good memories and lots of goodies: brownies from Peter, scones from Rob, and a dino from Alexis.
Hi, Enjoyed reading your blog 🙂 ! We are sailing ourselves (Sanuk a Lagoon 400) and are currently in New Caledonia, left from Grenada in september 2015. I just read you are going to Bonaire and then Curacao and Columbia.
We have enjoyed Bonaire tremendously, much more than Curacao and were sorry we did not stay longer there instead of Curacao…We only stayed 10 days in Bonaire. We also loved Columbia and I can recommend Santa Marta – we did a very nice hike to Ciudad Perdida (4 days), challenging but really beautiful. We ended up staying 2 months in Columbia! We loved it. No security problems at all, people are very friendly also the islands are super. The Galapagos, French Polynesia sooooo beautiful! You will love it !!!
Have FUN, ENJOY ! I will follow your nice family.
Kindest regards,
Ilse on SV SANUK
We miss you! Kisses from Sofia! ???
